![]() The compressors built into the channels give you even more control over the level of compression. Its kick and snare drums come through clearly in any mixing situation – and still sound natural and not overly compressed. But this is exactly where the MT Power Drum Kit is strongest. Either the kick drum suddenly sounds much too slack or fuzzy in the mix, or the snare drum, which initially sounds natural and dynamic in solo mode, suddenly gets lost in the background in the overall mix, drowned out by the guitars and other instruments. Some of the expensive plugins available on the market deliver a highly natural and dynamic drum kit sound as a solo instrument, but many fail as soon as they are supposed to be used for a complete mix in a powerful pop or rock production. This is precisely where many drum sample programs fail. The MT Power Drum Kit Sampler differs from other, expensive drum samplers in that we have already pre-processed the sounds with compressors and EQs to make them a perfect fit for any mix. Samples have been specially recorded and processed to make them ideally suited for use in pop, rock and metal productions. ![]() The MT Power Drum Kit is a free drum sampler offering the powerful, high-quality sounds of an acoustic, realistic drum kit. I own both Nuendo 10 and Cubase 10.5, and at the current price I would recommend going for Nuendo.Ĭubase does have the advantage of getting new features first.Multi Layer Drum Sampler AU / VST Instrument So if you're someone who absolutely has to have the newest features on day one, then you may consider purchasing Cubase. ![]() If you think that you may be getting into video game scoring or Post-Production (Dialog, Sound Design, Foley, etc.) then there's no question that you'll need Nuendo. There are video, sound efx and surround tools that come with Nuendo that don't exist in Cubase.Īlso if you're going to be collaborating with a producer, and that producer wants to view a scene with the music that you composed for it. ie "Can you send me a clip of Scene 4 with the score only, no dialogue?" then you'll want Nuendo.įrom a musical composition standpoint, Cubase and Nuendo are extremely similar. But when it comes to collaborating with other individuals who aren't musicians, you may find that they may require you to work in a way that's not typical for composers. If you REALLY can't decide between the two, buy Nuendo now, then wait a few months when Cubase goes on sale for 50% off, and then you'll have both! :) Nuendo makes it easier to deliver your product to non-musicians, and this may be the thing that gets you more work with that producer on a future project. I'm a 10.5 Pro user and I've scored a couple of short films now with it now. The projects were both done in Adobe's CC's workflow though so the expression "Oh to fix that we'll have to go back into Cubase" became somewhat synonymous with, great idea, let me just kick you in the balls first and we'll get right on it. True, 10.5 fixed the most basic issue I was having in 10, where I had to mix down sections and resync them manually in Premiere just to send out reference clips to the director. Now you can just export a reference clip from 10.5 directly, which is awesome! - though I'd like to export at 24bit instead of 16. On the other hand, say you've spent months working on a custom score for a project and several months into the festival circuit the director decides to cut an additional 2 minutes. In Cubase, you're kind of screwed (my experience). ![]() You can only have 1 video track loaded in a given project, and you can only load one instance of Cubase at a time on your machine. Thankfully, I had set up my original project right so everything was organized into folders totaling 460 tracks (score, dialogue, sound fx, ect.) But still, we removed 2 minutes of video and my only recourse was to setup sequence markers and open up the original in Premiere to make notes on what needed to be moved where.Īll this to say, Cubase is great for scoring, but it's not built to work in a production environment if you need anything more than that. Load in a picture, write some music, great. If you want to do anything else, get Nuendo. ![]() I'll be Crossgrading over as soon as the 10.5 update launches or there's a sale on the crossgrade itself. ![]()
